Short Bio

Dr. Badihi received his Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from Concordia University, Montréal, Québec, Canada, in 2016. He was a Horizon Postdoctoral Fellow with Concordia University for two years. Previously, he served as an Associate Professor at the College of Automation Engineering at NUAA, Nanjing, China. Dr. Badihi currently holds the position of Assistant Professor in Automation and Dependable Systems within the Automation Technology and Mechanical Engineering Unit at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Tampere University, Tampere, Finland. He leads the Dependability and Automation Research in Cyber-Physical Systems (DARES) Group, which is part of the Dependable Systems Cyber Laboratories.

Dr. Badihi's research focuses on several key areas:

  • Condition monitoring, diagnostics, and prognostics

  • Fault-tolerant and attack-resilient control

  • Fault-tolerant cooperative control.

All collectively geared to create a cyber-physical world that is both sustainable and dependable. Application areas under investigation include:

  • Wind turbines and solar photovoltaic systems

  • Hybrid microgrids and smart grids
